Cranial Fundamentals (Part One)

The direct biomechanical & visceral approach

This is a two part course where students will learn the fundamentals of cranial work.  The course is based on Giles developments of the work and is a view not commonly taught in the UK and Europe.

The techniques are direct, simple and achievable. Natural body fluid rates are not used much in this way of working. This avoids the frustration of working with the Cranial Rhythmical Impulse, which is sometimes a misleading phenomenon.

You will learn how to work with the brain, spinal cord and the fluids within the skull to promote health and reduce acquired lesion patterns. In this method there is no need to wait for release and change, as the practitioner will acquire the skills to use direct positional change, within the motion fields of the brain and spinal cord.

The Course covers the knowledge and treatment of the following topics:

  • Midline anatomy
  • The fluid body anatomy
  • Embryology from an Osteopaths view
  • Natural body fluid rates - in depth discussion
  • Structure line dysfunctions
  • The reciprocal tension membranes - upper & lower body
  • The core link treatment and importance in daily practice
  • Treatment of the boney components of the body:
    • Sacrum
    • Sphenoid and occipital bones
    • Temporal bones
    • Parietal & Frontal bones
    • Face, orbits and nose - for ENT conditions

Students with all levels of experience will benefit from this course. For those wishing to do some pre course reading (which is not essential) then John Upledger - 'Craniosacral Therapy' - is recommended.

Giles Cleghorn has developed these manoeuvres over a thirty-year period.

This course will run for 2 days, giving approximately 16 hours of CPD.
